A Commonplace Book is an old idea that deserves remembering; a single place where we keep bits and pieces of language, knowledge, ideas that we run across. A kind of precursor to the weblog, where, as we read and listen to others, we pick up chunks of knowledge, blurbs, truisms, memes, that we in one way or another want to keep with us.

My Other Blogs
Recently, as I sorted through boxes of miscellany in the process of packing to move, I found my Commomplace Book. In an inexpensive dimestore ringbound book, small enough to fit in a pocket or purse, I had jotted down quotations and bits of ideas that I wanted to keep. This book happened to date back about 30 years and it was a snapshot of my life at the time, and the kinds of things I deemed important then.
I made up my mind to resurrect this process, but to bring it into the new millenium, for which a blog is a perfect venue. This, then, is my Commonplace Book V1.2.
